I believe the best way for anyone to change their lifestyle for the better is by taking one small step at a time.

Before I changed my diet, I used to drink and eat foods that were extremely high in sugars and full of ‘bad’ carbohydrates. I used to think that one small chocolate bar will give me the boost of energy that I needed to get me through the day.

Oh boy, how wrong was I!

I think it is safe to say that I was addicted to sugar. I’ve gone from drinking 2 litres of Coca-Cola a day, to 3-4 litres of water instead. Trying to ween myself off Coca-Cola was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It’s taken me about 6 months to get over my cravings of wanting a cold can of the sugary drink. I must admit it hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it!

My diet is now based on carb cycling & because of this, I very rarely crave sugar. If I do crave something sweet, I treat myself to one dark chocolate brazil nut (my new obsession!) and this normally satisfy my cravings.

This might not seem like a big deal to people, but I was having copious amounts of issues with my teeth due to my sugar intake. I recently visited the dentist and she said that because of the changes I have made, I have saved myself from having real issues in the future. For someone who is petrified of the dentist – to be told this was amazing!!

Making small changes to your diet, like cutting down the amount of sugar you have makes a massive difference to your health and it is amazing how energetic you feel getting rid of those unwanted processed sugars!

Now, every time I go to the fridge and see a can of Coca-Cola, I push it out of the way and pick up the bottle of still water instead.
