If you are trying to lose weight and achieve noticeable results, I believe that preparation is key. It really annoys me when people say they don’t have the time haha. I have two jobs and work most weekends, go to the gym for 2 hours 5 times a week (after work and at the weekend) and I always find time to spend 30 minutes or so to prep my meals for the next day or week.
All of my meat I buy in bulk from Muscle Food (http://www.musclefood.com/). I have frozen all of them into portions which I take out of the freezer in the morning, ready to cook in the evening for dinner and lunch the next day. My calender for the next 2 months is looking pretty hectic with working, baking and the gym, so I’m going to have to make sure I put half an hour a day aside for my meal prep – not matter how late in the day I do it!
Sunday is the perfect day to start your preparation. One thing I would always recommend to people is to cook a whole roast Chicken on a Sunday night, which you can use for your lunches all week! I make sure I vary my lunches most days because otherwise my diet would be pretty boring! I try and marinade the meats in different flavours from fajita spices to peanut making a simple paste, so it makes my salad a little bit more exciting! If I don’t get the chance to do my meal preparation in the evening before I go to bed, I always make sure I’m up 30 minutes earlier than usual to finish my food for the day.
Working in a office where there is constant temptation is hard and I get that because I work in one of those offices. We have a box that is full of crisps, sweets and chocolate. I am proud to say that I have never had anything out of the ‘naughty box’. I think it’s really important for people to plans their meals well, keeping you fuller for longer which will stop you snacking on naughty things. If you have a mid morning and afternoon snack make sure you prepare that at home as well. My snacks are full of healthy fats and protein which will keep my hunger at bay until lunch and dinner.
The weekends are a lot harder when it comes to preparation. Because I work most weekends it’s okay because I still prep my meals and take them to work with me. It’s really important that you plan what you’re going to eat over the weekend as you don’t want to lose track and ‘accidently’ have a naughty treat. I don’t have treat days or meals in my Carb Cycling because once I’ve had something processed, I crave more.
Preparing your meals really will help you to achieve your goals. I know you will probably think it’s a pain and that you don’t have the time for it, but trust me – you will thank me for it!
