Okay. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that I am obsessed with nut butters and I believe they are the reason as to why I don’t have abs yet! Haha.
I used to buy the standard peanut butter available for our supermarket, thinking that is was healthy for you. I was adding it into my smoothies, having it on toast, apples and my pancakes because I thought I was fuelling my body with good food. I soon realised that I was mis-lead. Unfortunately, the peanut butter we get in our supermarket is not as nutritional as we thought.
Thanks to twitter, it has opened up my eyes to a whole market full of healthy and high protein nut butters. My kitchen cupboards are full to the brim with Nuts’n’More Nut Butters, Hognuts Nut Butters & Meridian Nut Butters. Let’s be brutally honest, keeping a strict diet is really, really hard. Especially on low carb days! So when I have my high carb days, I treat myself to nut butter filled protein breakfasts to fuel me for my day. I do incorporate nut butters into my low carb days as well as they are a fantastic source of good fats. I always try and increase my fat intake on low carb days to make up for the lack of carbohydrates.
There is such a wide variety of flavours available now which means you can turn your average protein baking into something wayyy more exciting! The nutritional value of these products are amazing! Per 100g they have over 46g of protein, over 50g of good healthy fats and are low in sugar and carbohydrates. So I know, I am giving my body all the macros I need that will give me the energy to work and train hard.
Add a dollop of your favourite nut butter to your porridge, smoothie and home made protein treats to add instant flavour and goodness 🙂
I would highly recommend treating yourself to a really good nut butter brand such as the ones I use. It’s good, honest food and that’s what you need!
